Families at Malama Beach

WHY FAMILIES COME BACK

Everything is a short walk from your door

Malama is a village, not a tower block. Low buildings, 26 acres of gardens and paths instead of lifts. Children can walk from the suite to the pool to the kids’ club without crossing a road.

We opened in 1992 and families have been the bulk of our guests ever since. The place has been shaped around that.

One child aged 2 to 12 stays free
Kids’ club six days a week, ages 4 to 12
Calm, shallow water in our own cove
Suites that sleep up to six
Playground, games room and sports courts
Baby chairs, cots and babysitting on request

MALAMINO KIDS’ CLUB

Somewhere for them to go, ages 4 to 12

Malamino sits on the grass in its own fenced area, with a playroom beside it, and it runs six days a week with trained staff. Children aged 4 to 12 are welcome.

Nobody has to sign up for the whole week. Drop them in for a morning, come back at lunch, or leave them to it while you swim. Most children realise on day two that the club is more fun than their parents!

IN THE WATER

Pools with a shallow end, and a cove with calm water

Swimming pool lined with thatched umbrellas above the sea at Malama Beach Holiday Village, Protaras

There is more than one pool, at different depths, with a section shallow enough for small children to stand up in. Sunbeds and umbrellas are allocated by the pool staff, so nobody is out at 07:00 putting towels on loungers.

Below the gardens is our own cove. It is sheltered, the sand shelves gently and the water is usually flat by Cyprus standards. The beach holds a Blue Flag, which covers water quality, safety equipment and how the beach is managed. There is a lifeguard during daytime, but it is highly recommended that children are still accompanied by an adult.

ROOM TO SPREAD OUT

Suites with plenty of space and comfort

The suites here have a separate bedroom, a lounge with a sofa bed, an open-plan kitchen, a dining table and a balcony, so the children can go to bed while the adults stay up.

The One Bedroom Garden View and the Superior One Bedroom sleep four. The Two Bedroom sleeps six and has two bathrooms, one of them en suite, which matters more than most families expect. Rooms are serviced daily except Sundays.

EATING WITH CHILDREN

The children are loving it!

La Piazza is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Buffets suit children: they can see the food before they commit to it, plates get refilled without a wait, and there is always plain pasta and fruit for the child who has decided this week that sauce is the enemy.

Baby chairs are in the restaurant and at the bars. If lunch by the pool is easier than getting everyone changed, Seaview bar offers a selection of meals.

You can book bed and breakfast, half board, full board or all-inclusive. Most families take all-inclusive and stop counting.

WHEN THEY ARE DONE SWIMMING

Playground, games room and evening shows

The playground is shaded, on soft ground, with swings and a slide. Older children tend to end up in the games room instead, which has a pool table and arcade machines.

There are courts and pitches for tennis, squash, beach volleyball, mini football, table tennis and darts.

There is also a diving school on the premises.

On the beach there are watersports to rent.

Evening entertainment includes live music, dancing, bingo nights and plenty of other fun stuff!
